Xátiva has been celebrating this traditional fiesta since 1250, at the time of king Jaime I.

In August, Xátiva, in the province of Valencia, celebrates the oldest fiestas in the Region of Valencia. This traditional event dates back to the 13th century, a privilege granted to the town by king Jaime I.Besides the sale of livestock and typical produce, the August Fair has a full programme of activities: concerts, theatre representations, contests, sporting competitions, regional folklore, fireworks, “tiro y arrastre” (competition where animals have to drag loads), young bull-running, bullfights…
